Anyone want to help me identify?

Thinking this is a desert tortoise? I live in Tucson, Arizona. Was given this tortoise as someone found it and it appeared to have been domestic (purple markings on the shell). After a significant amount of time of not finding the owners I have taken over. Can we confirm it's a desert tortoise and not another species? Thank you!
