Tortoise metabolism is very slow. Be careful to not fill his stomach with too much food. It takes a while for the food to empty out of the stomach.

Last update unfortunately. He passed away over the weekend. He developed some issues and stopped processing food so it filled him up because he wasn't pooping. The vet tried everything and I can't thank them enough for their help and the wonderful attention they gave Tommy. I think his poor body just gave out after all this. Word to others from the vet - tortoises are automatic creatures, they eat, sleep, walk all by routine. IF they start getting out of this routine and seem different, pay attention immediately and get help if needed. I believe I waited too long to get help and feel terrible about this. Strange how you can get so attached to a tortoise. Sad day.

I'm sorry, Greg. It's never easy to lose them, especially after trying so hard to get them well.

So sorry Greg. After your last post I was sure he was on the mend.

Sorry for the loss of your friend, Greg. Don't beat yourself up. Some things are out of our control. Most, in fact... Be well.
