Hi
I am new to this forum.
I got my baby spur thigh 2 days ago and I know they take a while to settle in but I was told he needed to have his calcium supplement every day but as he's not eating too much at the moment he is not having it. Any suggestions please ?

Hello and welcome. No tortoise species needs a calcium supplement every day. That is too much and it will interfere with the absorption of other important minerals and trace elements. Twice a week is plenty.

Show us a pic of your enclosure and your tortoise, explain the heating and lighting, and then we can give you better advice to help things along. Be aware that pet shops usually give bad advice and sell the wrong products. We will explain why once we see what you've got.

He has a combo heat/uv light on the right and side with a hide to go into with a heat mat behind a glass plate in that i switch in at night.

Hi, and welcome!

Most tortoises don't like the taste or smell of the calcium, that's probably why your baby isn't eating. I usually only give calcium a couple times a week, and when I do, I squeeze cucumber juice over it and mash it all together with a fork so it is all covered with cucumber juice.

Your UVB light needs to hang straight down. Mounting it at an angle shortens its life. Besides that, the clamp feature sometimes fails, causing a fire hazard (especially with that dry pine bedding, which should be changed out to something different)
