I have, and love, my redfoot Darwin... I chose a redfoot because of their size (they don't grow as large as sulcatas) and their omnivorous nature.

There are numerous care guides in these forums, but I feed mine a mix of mostly greens, some fruit and veggies, and an occasional bit of protein.

Thank u . Is any other Tortoises u can recommend?
I think practically and pragmatically. If you have snow outside for part of each year, that means you will need indoor housing. Even small tortoises need very large enclosures. An adult redfoot or leopard tortoise will need something the size of a room and heated to tropical temperatures year round. A sulcata or other giant needs something the size of a small warehouse. The heating costs alone would discourage me.

How about something that can live comfortably in a large indoor enclosure that would actually fit in a room? Russians, greeks, and hermanni can all either hibernate, or live through winter in a large 4x8' table in a heated room. Stars could live indoors in a large closed chamber over the colder months and get some outdoor time in summer.
