Brunch today was a salad, enjoyed while soaking:

  • Dandelion greens
  • Plantain greens
  • Diced opuntia pads
  • Dressing made from Mazuri, warm water, and hibiscus/wakame powder

I didn't notice there was more pictures of your beautiful baby [emoji4] love the pictures and the updates. One of the most beautiful species, in my opinion. Keep up the good work [emoji846]

Not a great picture, but she caught my eye while I was writing at my desk this morning... I saw her shuffle out of one of the hides in her enclosure, nibble at the pot of sprouted wheat grass in the middle, then climbed down into one of her pools.

She stayed in the pool for fifteen minutes, then wandered away to explore the darker portions of her enclosure.

She's curious about her surroundings, but still a little scared of me... I'm trying to get her used to me so that she'll take food from me.

J
Understandable. She will get there, happy to watch the thread as she progresses [emoji4] she looks like a curious one. [emoji3526]

Oh yes I was looking at how long her claws are lol. They do look like wolverine claws! [emoji16] How old does the species have to be before you can tell a gender?

I'm sure it's years away... I just had a feeling with her, as I do with my redfoot Darwin (who I got the feeling is a male, although he's also too young to say ).

I'm sure you can get a feeling about the gender due to attitudes and personalities. It certainly will be cool to watch as she and Darwin grow to see what gender they are. I'm sure your right [emoji3526]. Also is Darwin named after Charles Darwin?

That's very cool! Does Aretha have any significance to her name as well? Love her name either way just was wondering if you kept the theme by naming then after people?

Something about her, straight out of the box, brought to mind Aretha Franklin... plus, I made the decision to invite her to live with us soon after the one year anniversary of the great lady's passing, so she was on my mind.

I named my rescue Russian Chili because the first part of the word "tortoise" in Russian sounds like "Chili"....
