What can I use to cover the fixture that has holes with the bright light coming through? It bothers me eyes. Im also afraid the lighting staring at it being close to it while im looking at my tortoise will hurt my eyes.

I used the smaller ceramic fixture and put it on top? Would that hurt?

I'm not sure I'd cover the holes, at least not tightly. The smaller domes already have problems with over heating so you should check the temperature of the fixture to see if theres significantly more heat buildup when youre covering the holes.

How is the fixture attached to the top of the enclosure?

Well what do I do? I purchased a 5.5 dome. With a 80 watt powersun bulb. I have spent too much money already trying to figure out what fixture to use best for him. And bulbs.

Loosely placing the tinfoil just to block the light would be fine . I use 10 inch domes to prevent heat buildup

Those bulbs are good for lizards or snakes but bad for tortoises.. they dry out the shell quickly. Get a flood bulb from home depot or walmart and use a tube style uvb

im only using a uva/heat 60 watt right now can you send a picture of your bulb you prefer
Also do I have to use a 10” dome with all lights?

i have a wooden enclosure so I dont know how I would use that long zoomed reptisun bulb.
Should I return my 80 watt powersun bulb for my tortoise?
