Moderators on the forum

A few months ago, I (and one other young lady) volunteered to become a moderator on the then out of control EVERYTHING FOR SALE BROWARD COUNTY site on FACEBOOK.
Since then, I've come to understand how much needs to be removed and the total, daily nonsense that goes on.
People making new accounts to get approval and then posting all sorts of fraudulent crap, scams, member reported content, fights, inappropriate videos, etc.
It really is quite a job. A thankless one too.
So, thank you forum moderators!

I joined TFO in 2008. After a period of time I became a moderator. LOL I can't remember how long I lasted, but Josh ended up firing me. I am a different person now...but I still don't make a good moderator...

Yes, there's a lot that goes on "behind the scene" so to speak. Moving threads to the appropriate category, merging duplicates, deleting spam, reading all posts to make sure nothing offensive is being posted, so much so that we sometimes miss a thing or two. That's when we depend on you to use the 'report' button.

You hear the comment, "It's a thankless job, etc." but in this case, that's not true. I'm rewarded daily, and I love this forum and all the people on it! So, THANK YOU for making this a great part of my day!!

I feel the same way, only I find that I'm writing about how I feel, or my opinion on something and it's wrong to do here. Like talking about my pain, I try not to, and will try not to comment so much. This is for tortoise care not people care...

Well, we have to make sure we take care of the tortoise caretakers, too... since they are the ones taking care of the tortoises, after all.

No no no. It takes people to do what everyone here does and take care of animals. If I can't see what someone is going through, I can't send electronic hugs and prayers for encouragement. Sometimes I say it wrong but really if it's off topic chitchat it's off topic chitchat. There's lots of threads for tortoise topics on essential care also. I think it's really a very much needed support system for tortoise people. They are different.
