No problem, appreciate the response! :)

I'm thinking if I get rid of the MVB and replace it with this flourescent tube lamp, then use a 125w CHE as a day/night heat source, connected to a pulse thermostat.
I'm no expert lol but that should be ideal! The uvb tube seems just right for me as red foots don't like too harsh light. I have a 7 by 3 foot enclosure and I use three lower wattage ches to get a nice ambient temperature throughout, redfoot don't really need a basking area

Sounds like you know exactly what you're doing, so I'm going to follow your great advice. Thank you!

Are all those CHEs connected to one thermostat?

I haven't had them long but I've noticed the female redfoot loves to bask. She often stays under the lamp for hours at a time. Perhaps that means it's a bit cold in there for her? It gets to about 85⁰C directly under the lamp

I'm sure you could connect them all on one thermostat but I have them all seperatly so I can tweak each one as needed, I have one near his humid hide that I run a couple of degrees higher as he likes to burrow a little hole which can be a bit colder, then ambient temp in the whole viv sits at about 85 degrees but his burrow hole is 82.4. I try not to let it go under 80 degrees anywhere in the enclosure

Yes a T5 12% kit is perfect. My T5 fits the length of the enclosure. And I offer plenty of hides so my tort can move out the way of the light when desired. As they don’t like it bright. I have a damp area too. I have her humidity at 80%. And her heated side is set to 29c/30c.
I also feed my red foot on a piece of slate which you can get from eBay for £8.99. Mine has her name engraved onto it and a picture of a tortoise. I’ll happy send you the link if desired. The slate helps to keep there beaks nice and trim. You can also use a terracotta plate which I know a lot of people use for feeding aswell as using for the pool so they have a nice size water area that is easy for them to get in and out of. Cuttlebone is also a great way to give calcium as they will eat what ever they need. And it’s another good way to keep there beaks trim
good luck with your red foots. They will be a delight to have. I’ve had my girl for a few days. And I’m in awww haha ?. Be warned you will be mesmerised and watch them for hours. Or is that just me being a crazy deranged lady ???

Hey! Everyone on here is so kind and has given me such great advice. Thanks.

So as they're in a 6ft length viv, I'd need a tube that spans the whole length? Hopefully I can find one that big online.

Do you have a good hydrometer you could recommend?

Yeah I'm exactly the same. They're fascinating and amazing animals. I'm enjoying having them around. Already boring my girlfriend talking about them non stop haha

My enclosure is 4foot by 2foot. My red foot is only 4 month old. So I won’t been bigger for a year or so depending on how fast she grows. You may not be able to get one to fill the length. But a 36inch length T5 12% kit should be fine. As it comes with a reflector. And the torts will move to a hide.
im in middle of adding plants etc to dim it down. With the humidity I’m HOPING to grow plants in her viv. ill post link to the hydrometer I use.
And haha. Your poor girlfriend lol. I call my uncle and aunt everyday. I talk about Pumpkin (My red foot) To my uncle he has dementia and after an hour he forgets So I get away with it ?

Right before I got my torts all my family heard was tort facts! At the end they were really annoyed, well they just had to deal with it.
I could listen to tort facts all day. No one in my village has a tort apart from me. So I’m the crazy lady who goes round grabbing weeds I know are safe when out on walks ?

Every time I see a patch of clover, or a clump of wildflowers we stop the car immediately and go pick them. We don’t need tons of food because we have a tort garden and lots of fruit in our lot. We have our own orchard basically. Apple trees, pear trees, blackberry bush, raspberry bush, grape plant, and an Asian pear tree.

These were all here when we bought the lot so free food! Who can say no to that?
Bonus lol.
Im working on a tort patch. I spent near on £100 on different seeds pots etc.
mom moving house in next few months. I’m down sizing. And moving down south.
I don’t see point in having a 3 bed house with just me a dragon and a tort.

Wow they're bloody expensive haha. Didn't expect that. Is this one you keep in the viv at all times or do you move it about?
I'll have a look at some stores near me to see if I can find one a bit cheaper. Cheers!

With the uvb tube if you go for the one in the picture I'm pretty sure you can link multiple light fittings together to run off one mains plug so you could go for a couple of smaller ones mounted diagonally if that makes sense? Might give you a bit more mounting room if you wanted multiple ches? I'm sure I've seen people on this forum mount diagonally and alternate uv tubes with growing lights for plants

This is Lola, she's approx 20 years old. You can see in one of the pictures that she enjoys sitting close to the basking light near her water bowl. As I've only had her for a short amount of time, I'll be adding a few plants to her Viv after I get the lighting sorted out.
