I’ve had this baby for a couple weeks now, and from when then i realized theses yellow lumps on both her leg and neck. the one on her leg i was looking at it, and it just fell off like dry skin, however i am unable to really get to her neck bc she keeps moving around. I have just realized the lumps are spreading to her face and legs. Idk if i should go to the vet or something. her feedings is good, her energy is good and eveything is good about her. any advice on what to do before i go to a vetF2D94A4D-9223-4ABE-AED3-4EC4655EB3EB.jpeg1FD16190-7533-40A3-B5D6-D61E9190F296.jpeg

This is yellow fungus. We're seeing it more often lately. Check the skin all over to make sure you find all the spots. Clean the spots thoroughly with antibacterial cleaner than paint each spot, using a Q-tip, with Betadine. Use Betadine only on the first day. After that, dab on an antifungal cream/ointment daily.

Since this phenom. is so new to us, please keep us in the loop so we know if the treatment is working.

So far none of us has learned why they get it.
okay so i’ve put the ointment and cleaned the lumps every day, and ive realized that the lump on her neck has basically dried out and has fallen off, however i’ve realized there has been more lumps on her foot! should i get different substrate. at the current moment, i have a mix of fir, sphagnum, and top soil let me know please!

The yellow lumps are still spreading on her legs, any suggestions
Unfortunately, I have no idea. If you have a good, knowledgeable, exotics vet it would be interesting to see what he says. He could do a scraping and send it to a lab and find out exactly what it is. It probably needs systemic treatment.

Make sure you notify the vendor/seller, if you haven't already.

You could try asking if they have seen this before or if they're aware of anything like it. However, I don't know how forthcoming they might be. If there is any information to be had, you will probably get further if you don't come across as accusatory and don't put them on the defensive.

You're just trying to take care of your tortoise. That may be the safest approach.

Please keep us posted on any news or information. It would be nice to learn more.
