Hi everyone!

My name is Michael and I'm brand new to the world of tortoises. I'm literally a stage 0 person because I don't currently have a tortoise and have never owned one in the past. I do love tortoises though and just haven't really been in a position to adopt one until now. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and tap into your knowledge as I begin this journey.

I came across this forum as I was looking for reputable breeders and decided to stay because the community seems wonderful! Everything I've read so far says that starting out with a Russian tortoise is best way to go, so that's what I'm looking into. I have a lot to learn and I know being a part of this community will be a big help. I want to make sure my eventual tortoise pal has the best life possible and they're just as happy to be with me as I am with them.

Anyways, I'm sure I'll interact with a lot of you as I go throughout this journey and hopefully one day I can give back by sharing what I've learned with new people.

Thanks for reading! :)

I haven't taken a look at them yet, but I definitely will now! That's so awesome that you have 3! I would like to have multiple some day, but for now I think I would just wanna spoil one until I get the hang of everything, ? Thank you!

I appreciate the thought! I'm honestly not sure how soon I'll have one, but if I do get one before then I'll let you know.
Another option is @TylerStewart from Tortoise Supply, check out his website. Lot’s of members here have done business with him including myself and I would highly recommend him.

That's funny because I actually looked at their website earlier today. Being new to the whole thing I'm just wary because the first site I looked at was Tortoise Town, but then I saw some scary stories about them and said nope. Hearing that @TylerStewart has a good reputation on the forum makes me feel a lot better.

Thank you for the recommendation!

One of the first items that you need to address is the closed chamber. I'm linking a post that will hopefully help you with that. There are several ways to do them.

We have several excellent breeders on the forum. @Carol S is one that is highly recommended.

We also have links to many of the items you will need to buy. Once you know what you want, we can post them.

Thank you for the resources and I will begin looking into that! Those are some beautiful enclosures pictured. I'll definitely reach out to everyone once I know more of what I need.
