So, my father has a coffee plant, and gave me some coffee berries to feed my turtle. Are they safe? I haven't found any info on this.
English is not my first language, so I don't know if these are the berries.

Not sure what the caffeine content in fresh, unroasted coffee beans is, but it might be detrimental to the tortoises health. On the other hand, you might finally see a tortoise raise-up on his hind legs and sprint around his enclosure...

Didn't see anything in the Tortoise Table.

" Just keep in mind that coffee fruit contains caffeine. Although the exact amount varies based on the specific product, dosage, and form, most products contain around 5–20 mg of caffeine per serving"
might not help but just thought you should know ?‍♀️

It belongs to a larger plant family that contains a number of plants that include alkaloids to the point they can be used medicinally (painkillers, blood thinners, vomitous). There are some plants in that family that are okay to feed but I wouldn’t go there and I’m pretty open minded about feeding my Russian.

Redfoot tortoises seem to be able to eat almost anything without harm but I still wouldn’t feed it.

It would probably be ok in very small amounts or for a treat once in a great while. Generally speaking, sugars and fruits should be be given very sparingly to tortoises.

I like the taste of coffee cherries and once bought a juice made from them which I liked. Coffee cherries and anything made from them is pretty much impossible to get around here.

The bean part of the coffee cherry which carries most of the questionable compounds would probably pass right thru a tortoise, since that's a very common distribution strategy and a large reason why berries actually exist, but it's still not a risk I would take.

Thanks!
I think I won't risk it, since I've got a lot of other options to feed my tort.
