Hello, I have been lurking a while just reading posts. This forum is very interesting.
We have 2 tortoises, one I have owned for over 60 years since my dad brought 5 home from a market once and the other one since 1976 which was a gift from my husband on our 3rd wedding anniversary because he thought my tortoise needed a friend. Lol
So they are both quite old and probably about halfway through their lives as they did not come to me as young ones.

Thank you. Ours are both Mediterranean Spur Thighed, and hibernate each November. They wake up at Easter.

Hello and welcome - I live in Devon and have a Hermanns tortoise who has recently turned 21. He doesn't hibernate, but has a heated conservatory. We take him out every day - he enjoys car journeys, watching the sea, and especially meeting people - he has quite a busy life. We actually live near Bude, and often meet people who say they met him when they were on holiday there previously.- even saying they came with the hope of meeting him again - and remembering his name !!

Hi and thanks, we had a holiday in Bude in about 1971. As I remember the beach was lovely and we had the largest steak dinner of our lives at one of the restaurants there one evening.

Bude is still pretty good - the beach at Summerlees , which is probably where you went, is getting quite smart now, with lots of coloured beach huts and a proper sea pool. We have lived here for 25 years after leaving London, and there are lots of amazing places still to see. Where are you?
