Greetings All.

I was just reading a few questions & responses in @Tom ’s Nightbox thread & the discussion got to “What’s a good thermostat to use?” Ive been using my analog Zilla 1000 watt thermostat for some time and it works just fine. That said, i see that the one referenced as good to use is the Inkbird ITC-308 WiFi Thermostat.

I see that this Inkbird thermostat has a plug for controlling “heating” and one for controlling “cooling”.

Soooo, my question: I’m wondering if both receptacles can be set to the same temperature of lets say 85.? One plug going to one RHP and the other to a second RHP (both within the same large nightbox). Both would obviously be controlled by one temperature probe.

Thoughts?

Inkbird thermostats have one set point and you set a differential number of say 2. So if your set point is 85 heat will come on at 83 and cooling will come on at 87. Inkbird dose make a thermostat that has 2 heating outlets that will work as you described but one with heating and cooling will not

After more reading, I do see where a few years ago someone had a similar question. But, Id rather hear from a TFO trusted soul.

Question:
Can I plug another heat belt into the cold outlet? I have one setup right now, would rather not buy another temp controller
Answer:
You can not plug another heat source in the cold socket. When the set temp for heat is reached (plus the degrees of override you set) the cold plug is activated. Until then the cold plug it is dead (Off). You can use a multi outlet splitter for the heat plug side making sure their power requirements do not overload t… see more

Aaagh. That was very quick & informative. Let me look for that particular one with the two heating outlets. Thanks ✅??

I have the Inkbird ITC-306T which has 2 plug-ins to control heating elements. It would be able to control both of your RHP’s with the single temp probe. Another feature I like with this thermostat is that it you can program 2 different time cycles. So you can have one temperature set for during the day and another for night, and you can determine what time it switches to the day/night cycle. The only thing it doesn’t have is the capability to connect to wifi. Although I’ve only been using 1 of the plugs on mine, I’ll soon be setting up another heat source in preparation for the cold Canadian winter ahead. If there’s a power outage, it holds your settings too, which is comforting. I’ve been very pleased with this thermostat for the year I’ve been using it.
