I think Tom's advice is good. Look up Austwickia or Yellow Bumps here on the forum, there is a lot of info on it.
The little scabs in your photo look like some of the other photos I have seen here. In a lot of other posts the tortoises are in significantly worse shape before dying though. It seems like they can live (suffer) with it for some time before dying in many cases. @mastershake knows a lot more about this.

PLEASE, if you decide to get another tort, do everything Tom tells you to do. Toss every thing you can, clean what's left with ammonia, etc. Do you have any other reptiles because austwickia is highly transmissible to other reptiles? This is not your fault, but i'd be asking for a refund at a minimum. That picture says it all.

Austwickia chelonae. Its a bad bacterial disease coming from animals at at least one compound in AZ. The guy won't stop selling these infected animals to other people who resell them all over the country. It is highly contagious and there is no cure. You need to throw away anything that this baby had contact with and use a 10-20% ammonia solution to disinfect any hard surfaces where the enclosure was.

You should let LLL know too.

Failure to thrive is not necessarily the same thing we are talking about in that thread, but in either case, it is the fault of the breeder or person housing them.

this will NOT affect humans but WILL to ANY other reptiles and if you re use anything at all without either proper disinfection or by tossing and buying new then it can be spread to the next one if you get another one as many as 4-6 months later.

sadly i was told by someone who knows the owners and people who work at lll they have seen this before and really dont care much if at all. that was beginning of last year i was told that.

Sorry for your loss. Still don't expect hatchling that size already have it. Does anyone know how long that yellow bump will start showing symptom usually?

it varies some within days some within a few weeks it depends how deep inside it started and how long it takes to infect the skin itself. some hatchlings will show them within days of hatching.

Thank you Mastershake for caring. I just wish the word getting out on these jokers would be enough to shut down their business, but obviously it is not.

Does LLL go to the Reptile shows or do they just rely on the internet for their business? If they're going to the Reptile shows, then they could use a lesson from the organizers...clean up your act or don't show up as exhibitors.
