Hi everyone,
I've had my beloved Roy for almost 10 months now and I've always assumed that he's a Greek tortoise but I'm not so sure anymore..
Do you happen to know what species he is? He is around 16Cm (6.3 inches)
(Ps the pictures are from when I first got him, he now has a proper enclosure to live in and doesn't just roam around on carpets, in case anyone is concerned)

Roy is looking good. I agree, he's a Greek tortoise, of the terrestris subspecies, making him a Testudo graeca terrestris. This color variation is found in Jordan, Syria and Israel, and is often referred to as a "golden Greek" in the pet trade.

Roy may also be a female. If you want to post a photo of the plastron (bottom of shell), we can see.

Thank you!
The plastron looks concave so I assumed it's a male, but I'm no expert so here you go..

You're right. It's a boy!

Roy would probably do well outside in a large, densely planted enclosure. You have the advantage of being in his natural range.
