I've been lurking on this site for a couple years. I have a 10 foot diameter, 2 foot high planted stock tank that I've prepared for tortoises. I'm looking into buying a couple adult female russian tortoises because I may want to get into breeding a few years down the line once I have more experience. Right now though I'm just looking for them as pets. But it seems every website selling them is out of stock. Does anyone sell adult females?

Tortoise Supply has adult Russians, you could also check Southern Reptiles in Florida.

I just don't think that is big enuf for adult Russians...plus they are a very aggressive species and you can't, really can't keep a group without much more area. I got 3 adult Russians to foster...over a year ago, they are horrible...In my case the 3 had to be separated, they fought and bullied and acted like my enclosures were Ukraine...lol here's a photo for example...the guy told me they were all the same size when he put them together... this is the female and the male she bullied...he is putting on weight and really active since he got his own place...lol anyhow, that simply my experience... an unlikable species to me...

What size would you recommend? I thought the rule of thumb was 4*8 for 1 russian and add 10 square feet for each tortoise. This enclosure would be nearly 80 square feet with a foot of substrate
