When do babies lose their egg tooth? I've read 4-6 weeks. Got a baby sulcata from a pet store who said they had them for 1mn and that they were about a month old when they got them. I'm beginning to think this baby is younger then I thought...

Looks like a just hatched hatchling. Can you turn him over and take a pic is the egg yolk visible?

Egg tooth is usually gone by around 6 weeks.

Can we have a pic of the plastron?

Unfortunately, your baby was not started correctly. This is common and sadly happens most of the time. Nothing you can do about it now, other than offer perfect conditions in a warm humid closed chamber simulating the monsoon conditions that they would experience in the wild. Daily soaks will be essential.

Here is the correct care info:

Questions are welcome.

Thank you again! Your information and advice has been beyond helpful! She was in a very dry tiny enclosure with 14 others when we got her. I now have her in a enclosed enclosure (thanks to you) with 80%+ humidity and Temps never below 80 (basking 95-100). I will need your help again when it comes time to making it an outdoor space! Here is a picture of its nightly soak.

Well done for acting on the advise you will have a fun time with this little shelled warrior. Your aiming for smooth shell and that is all dependant on heat, light, humidity, diet, hydration, enclosure a d substrate. I really recommend a weekly weight log as he will grow fast and it nice to have a record and you can identify weight loss and gain fast. He does not need a friend it is fine solo. Enjoy.

Thank you! I started a weight log and have also been tracking its poops and eating habits. Definitely more hands on then I thought but absolutely adorable!
