Hello,

Hopefully I’m posting in the right place.

We’ve had this little guy for approx. 4 months so I believe he’s 8 or so months old now.

Been focusing on maintaining 80-85% humidity for him, 83 degrees, regular soaking, etc.

He has two indents (identical) on either side of his shell at the rear, where his legs are. The indents are the same, is this normal and part of their growth? Or should I be concerned?

Also he had one scale lifting on his head, now both scales are lifting, is this normal part of shedding?

Thanks so much. Just want him to be in perfect health.

Using a 36” ZooMed Reptisun HO 10.0 UVB through mesh in a 36 x 18 x 18, closed off capsule to maintain humidity. Coconut coir eco earth substrate. A couple of mist king nozzles to maintain the 80% humidity. CHE to maintain the 83 degrees.

Feeding:

M: Base Greens (Spring Mix)
T: Base Greens + Fruit
W: Base Greens
T: Base Greens + Veg
F: Base Greens + Fruit
S: Base Greens
S: Base Greens + Protein (super worm, earth worm, etc)

His stools were runny initially until I started this diet, since then they have been healthy looking and solid. Typically leave food in there for an hour then remove.

Have some Mazuri pellets, give him half pellet here and there with base greens.

Repashy Super Veggie supplement a couple sprinkles during the week split apart, then we have Rep-Cal Calcium and Rep-Cal Herptivite, sprinkle on a weekend serving.

It sounds like you are doing things very well.
So, he's eating, drinking, pooping and acting normally?
The only thing I'd work on is the humidity. Try to ad water to the corners of the substrate and let humidity through evaporation get the numbers up. The MISTKING is a high quality item. But a mister isn't ideal for this situation.

Thank you ZERO.

He’s doing all those things normally. I have the mist king going as a bare minimum, I’ve been adding water as much as I can… I can’t believe how much it takes to keep the humidity up that high…. I’m planning to build him a 5 x 10 raised home with plastic, etc. to check all the boxes but he’s still pretty tiny.

Here’s a snapshot of his growth:

June 26th - 45g
August 4th - 65g
August 23rd - 83g
September 25th - 86g
October 22nd - 106g
November 19th - 129g

Just been noticing these indents on his shell and been concerning me that something I’m doing is off track. I’ll continue to focus on maintaining the schedule and monitor his development.

Thank you!!

You are doing great. But why leave his food in for only an hour? They eat on and off all through the day.
