Oh @Magz . . . You're just gonna' be SO jealous!!!

Phone: Ring, Ring
Me: Hello?
Caller: Hi, is this the turtle place, the place that takes in turtles?
Me: (Chuckle) No, I'm sorry, I don't do that anymore.
Caller: Oh darn. Well do you know who else does it?
Me: Well, you can look up "Todd, the snake man" on Facebook. I think he takes in turtles, but what do you have?
Caller: Well, my female desert tortoise laid eggs in the yard and four babies hatched out.
Me: Oh! I LOVE baby desert tortoises!! I'll take them!
Caller: We're not set up to take care of babies and with Christmas coming, we don't want to have to spend lots of money buying equipment we probably will never use again.

So, arrangements were made and I'm now the proud keeper of three (they adopted out one of them to a friend) of the cutest little babies you ever saw!

I'm just an observer most times (yeah, who am I kidding?) but it kinda sounds like Lil sis is going to be poaching one of them back to Oregon when they get a little bigger!

LOL

They are pretty cool little guys......

It's hard to say "no" when babies are involved, isn't it? LOL

You have a big heart Y.......be proud of what others respect you for!

And here they are seven months later, and just as smooth as can be, thanks to the Vision cage and lots of humidity. Sorry for the picture quality. I'm really bad a taking close-ups:

What lucky little babies to be in your care instead of the usual treatment they get from most other people. Gorgeous little babies.

Wow they look big for only 7 months. You should measure them. It's likely just the pic making them look so big.
They do look great though.

Is that average growth rate for them? Seems a lot for 7 months. I know nothing about them, and didn't realize they grow so quick. How big do they get as adults?
That is normal for healthy ones. Most of them grow much slower because they are barely getting enough water to survive.

@Yvonne G do you use an iphone for the pictures? If so, when taking a closeup or any shot with lots of varying distance to the subject in the frame, just touch the screen of your iphone on the spot you want in focus. It will refocus on that spot. Then press the button to take the picture.

You're kidding, right? I just barely have a cell phone, and it (a flip phone) resides on the charger amongst the spider webs. I've had it close to a year and have never made or received any calls on it. No, I use a Kodak digital camera. I brace my arms so they are stationary, then tap the shutter button to focus, then snap the picture. Close ups almost always turn out blurry.

It could be the bright lights or the type of lights in the enclosure that's not letting you get a good picture. You are supposed to have the bright light behind you for photos. 🤗 So cute
