No, he has access to my lower level in my house. The floor had tile on it, he can come and go out of his hide. When the weather right, I just open the backdoor and he goes out in the yard.

What a beauty and thanks for the pics. I'm a very visual hands on kind of learner, so that helps a lot.

I love the name Stump! Sammy was last weighed on November 16. 58 lbs. 9 0zs. I will weight him again on his birthday December 21, he will turn 5 yrs old. Sounds like Stump is doing really well, Sammy didn't weighed 2 lbs until his first birthday.

In the spring I'm going to do the same thing and form a concrete pool -w- water source above in his enclosure. That's what I was thinking about doing and it was great to see it as you did.

Welcome, I went through the same transformation that you are going through now. It changed my whole aspect of tortoise keeping.Sulcatas are big tough tortoises and need giant outdoor enclosures to thrive.I thought I had a lot of time before mine got big but it creeps up on you and before you know it you have a tank .

Yeah, I had a feeling something wasn't right after the first night. Fortunately, everyone here has been super helpful and supportive. SOLO is the name we are leaning towards and he seems to be doing much much better.
Technically, it's for my daughter for Christmas, I'm really looking forward to building out its future enclosures with her. She loves anything nature, and our sulcata will be such a great conduit for father/daughter bonding.
