I have recently bought a hermanns tortoise from someone on Pets 4 homes that was living in a cage with a Quaile in hay and was feeding on mainly red foods, She told me it was a 3 year old and was healthy, She also said she had cleft lip and that it was common,

I was new to owning a tortoise and thought everything was fine until I did a lot of research,

It was in fact a male and much preferred kale and green lettuce which is obviously much more healthy, I then found out it did not have cleft lip and in fact had an over grown beak which I have gently filed down, Aswell as this he has a nasal infection which I was advised by a vet to treat with Baytril orally

I'm on day 4 out of 6 of o. 2mg and he is still creating snot bubbles

Any recommendations??

Yes. Describe or upload a pix of the enclosure & tell us more about the heating & lighting. More often than not your tort is much colder than you think. So, tell & show us more about the enclosure.

I can't see how it would be that he's not warm enough when he never had a red lamp until I had him?

Nine times out of ten, respiratory problems occur because of improper husbandry. This coupled with being moved from his old home to a new one, relocation stress, may have caused the bubbles.

Please read our care sheet - https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/sticky-hermanns-tortoise-care-sheet-updated.101410/ - with an open mind, and make corrections accordingly. Once he's set up properly his "respiratory infection" will go away.

Continue giving the Baytril like the vet advised you, until the administration of it is finished. Baytril is a very harsh antibiotic. Please soak the tortoise daily to help him clear it out of his system.
