My 39 lb female sulcata went missing from our yard on April 23,2014. She has pyramiding on her shell and a red dot as well.

Duly noted. Where in the world are you?

Are you sure that is a female? Awfully big gulars for a female.

Well, I was told by the previous owner she was female but could be wrong. I'm in Reno, Nevada

Is escape possible? Have you posted signs at local vet and pet shops? Checking Craig's list?

Yes , unlikely that she was taken . I've listed on Craigslist , pet harbor . Northern Nevada lost and found , Reno reptile rescue, and here.

Thank you but sadly, the reality is she's likely suffered from hypothermia and has passed or is not able to travel to get to lower ground. The past two nights have dropped to the forties and it's now raining ...I hope her suffering is short because I'm responsible for her and I'm feeling pretty lowly right now.

They can withstand low temperatures occasionally. She might come through.

Those temps aren't likely to kill her. Especially if it warms up and gets sunny the next day. Rain doesn't help, but it is by no means a death sentence. Don't give up. Keep looking. They tend to dig in to the bases of bushes and stuff. Sometimes it helps to get down on your hands and knees and see things from a tortoises perspective.

Good luck and please keep us posted.
