Hello, The Tortoise labeled 4 in your picture appears to be female and the one labeled 3 appears to be male. Which matches the species as the females are larger than the males. the give away is the shape of the plastron at the bottom near the tail. the v shape indicates a male and the more...

    Market values

Hello again, My understanding is that Sulcatas breed more often and have much larger clutches when they lay eggs vs the Mediterranean species. Other members may be able to clarify better but i believe that Sulcatas will lay up to ten eggs a nest and lay 3 or four nests while a Hermanns will lay...

    Feeding portions

Hello, Your setup sounds good, From what i have read most opinion is to feed an amount equal to the size to cover the shell. My Django from what i was told hatched in March of this year and he is 2 inches 6 months old. Others have said to feed babies all they want. I follow the latter as he is...

    Florida's Humidity

I would have to agree. :) It is dang hard trying to keep the humidity up in the Texas panhandle. The daily high temp is over 100 degrees right now, and the ambient humidity is only 20%. you should be OK, i got my Hermanns from Florida so it is the opposite problem for me. Good luck,:D

    new pics of Django

Thank you, yes the d is silent. I got his name from the new Quentin Tarentino movie by the name of Django Unchained. I love westerns and action movies. It will work until he/she is big enough to sex. Then I figure I can rename if I need to. Ryan
