Svenya has a treat. It's difficult getting a picture of her eating because she usually runs to me instead. When a turtle of any kind picks you over food, you know you're special.

It looks like some type of forest turtle? If he has flippery feet, he needs to be fed in the water so he can swallow properly. Turtle pellets or even tropical fish food pellets are fine if you are able to find a place to buy them. Fish, poultry, and fruit are okay, but with pellets you can be...

    Why Are Sulcatas Inexpensive?

Haha, the dogs. The new thing here is a "teddy bear," sold at $1200US+ with papers from some random registry. It's a bichon mix. Oklahoma is hell for animals. Every roadside "zoo" here has sulcatas. They're all severely pyramided. I've had three people text me sulcata pics from a new petting...

    Olive the Northern Ibera Greek

What a cute tort. Your starting enclosure/room is wonderful! I'm no expert, but I've always been firmly in the "closed chamber" camp. Originally out of necessity (forest torts), but I've noticed that my juvenile marginated (similar to a Greek) still prefers his original baby chamber much of the...

    Tortoiseforum Is Overloaded With Ads!

I haven't subbed in a couple of years, so I would see them if I turned off my ad blocker on my PC. One ad was huge, white and flashing and migraine-inducing, so I can understand that being frustrating. On my phone, I think the mobile version is severely limited in how many ads it shows. When I...

Is she a Bernedoodle? Doods of all types have such a high abandonment rate. As a groomer, it breaks my heart!

That is a nifty night box. This heat wave has been brutal. I noticed my torts won't eat pretty much any time there is a heat advisory, even with a very nice shaded garden enclosure. I understand the anxiety, I'm also a mammal that can't fathom not eating every day.

    INFLATION

Haha, Georgia showing off. I feel like I'm doing strangely well in all of the craziness, knock on wood. Most of the things I miss are because I moved to a rural area: $5 Friday sushi specials, fancy coffee, things like that. My car is efficient, fuel was only 4.22ish/gal today (often .30+ more...

I need help on how to keep my tortoise warm outside at night

A happy guinea pig is a noisy guinea pig. It's okay if this is a troll, I just love talking about guinea pigs 😅

I need help on how to keep my tortoise warm outside at night

Definitely consider the advice being given, some of the above are very knowledgeable people. As a long-time cavy nerd, here's my input: Some guinea pigs aren't big chewers, but if he discovers that the tortoise shell is a good source of calcium, it could get dangerous. You're not going to train...

    Can anyone identify this Plant.

I'm in the same boat. Animals are pretty good at finding the good edible stuff when there's plenty available. Even my guinea pigs sometimes partake of ground ivy when foraging and it doesn't affect their digestion. A lot of good edible things thrive underneath ground cover (like clover and wild...
