Small hole on plastron of 3yr old Sulcata

@Markw84 Thanks for the reply! How can you tell that it's female?? My kids named "him" Spike when we first got it but maybe "her" name needs to be Spikette now. Lol Would any kind of ointment work ...like neosporin? glad it isn't anything major.

Small hole on plastron of 3yr old Sulcata

Hi! My sulcata is about 3 years old now and i just happened to notice today that he has a small hole on the plastron. I'm not sure what it is or how to treat it. Is this shell rot?? Any advice on what should be done? We live in San Diego and he's been roaming free in our backyard majority of...

Chambers, my take of the idea

Hi Will - I was just browsing old threads in search of ideas for a rubbermaid bin enclosure for my baby sulcata and how to get the lights inside the chamber and still have the top closed...and came across this one. I like what you've done :-) I did see your comment about the condensation on...

Spike's still small ... 2.25", 43 grams. I'll add another hide spot and see if that helps.

    Tiny Bug Infestation...HELP!

ok i see what you're saying now. :-) I prefer dark, and I think lil' Spike does too... although he sleeps like a log even when I'm turning lights on and off in the room he's located in.

    Digging corner of indoor enclosure

The enclosure is 33" x 20.5" x 13" and there is about 3-4" of substrate. There is a terracotta pot on it's side dug a little into the substrate that he sleeps in all the time, but no other hide spots other than that.

    Digging corner of indoor enclosure

The past week I've noticed lil Spike digging in the same corner of his indoor enclosure and ending up on his back. It's as if he's trying to dig up the walls which causes him to fall over. I have found him on his back on more than one occasion and usually it's when i check on him in the...

    Tiny Bug Infestation...HELP!

just came across this comment about the red light bulb and tortoise vision.... Does it have to be pitch black at night for a tortoise? Just curious what effect it would have on a tort if there is still some light around the enclosure from the room that it is located in?

LOL glad I'm not the only one! I was just thinking this same thing today when I took my tort out for a soak. The stuff is always all over its face/eyes.

    Rep-Cal calcium powder

I just got the rep-cal calcium powder w/ vit D and as I was about to use it, I read the dosage instructions on the back say to mix it with the Herptivite vitamin supplement. Since I didn't buy the Herptivite vitamin (didn't know I'd have to mix this w/calcium), is it ok to use the calcium on...

    What is this?

thank you all! I'll stick to the grape leaves, hibiscus, and geraniums for now until I can get the safe weeds planted in the outdoor enclosure space I'm working on.
