    Out of hibernation!!!

It is one of life's wonders I'm sure (my partner and friends think I'm crazy) that coming out of the fridge after fifteen weeks hibernating that within four hours Terence is eating, taking an interest his surroundings and having a drink. These are such amazing animals and I'm absolutely in awe...

    Hibernation... How long???

This is the second year that I have hibernated Terence. The first year as I had only had him around 7 months I didn't want to do it for too long, 6 weeks the vet recommended as the minimum. I was rather against hibernating him as I felt I wasn't overly knowledgable about it but he seemed intent...

    PLEASE READ (substrate question)

PLEASE READ I think he'd much prefer something like coco coir... The bricks that you soak. The end result is much like soil that he can dig down into, and it holds moisture really well, keeping humidity levels up.

    Temp gun use

I have now ordered a temp gun to make sure the temps in Terry's indoor enclosure are bang on, I was just wondering how best to use it? An I looking for the temperature at 'ground' level or where the shell would be? I've been using digital thermometers but I'm not trusting the readings too much...

    Humidity

What would be the ideal humidity levels for a 4/5 year old Horsfields? My table varies between 50 and 65%, is this okay??? He also gets outside time when the weather allows. Basking temp is 34 cool end 26 and areas between a steady gradient between the two. He has rocks under his basking lamp...
