Anyone know of a better plastic tub?

https://share.icloud.com/photos/0P2MfeL9KAMUqMQtgM7FSM8_g Last summer I thought I'd designed a great, sel-draining soaking tub for Booker. He's around 80 lbs. now. I have structured a nice, slanted ramp for easy ingress/egress, and holes are drilled in the bottom so the tub drains to an...

    Tile floor?

Thanks Saleena. The responses have persuaded me. Anybody need some nice tile for cheap? ; )

    Tile floor?

Good point, thanks. I'm also concerned about the aftermath of all those rats having been there in the past.

    Tile floor?

I've recently come into a stash of marble tile. I'm considering trying to reclaim a portion of a chicken barn once used to stable a horse. It's a good space beyond Booker's yard. If I could transform it into new winter digs for him, he could have year-round access to his yard. But this barn...

    Sulcata's Digs

Well, I've mounted a fixture that holds 2 - 48" tubular bulbs. If I buy 2- UVB 100's, is that too much? The fixture is suspended from the ceiling at about 7' high. With only one small window in his winter room, how long should I have the basking bulbs on each day? (He has a heat mat for...

    Okay to come out now?

Hmm ... He’s around 80 lb. Yours goes out in the snow!?!?!?! Booker has a heated “pig blanket” in his winter digs but not in his outdoors shed. No power there. Maybe I could find a way to rig an extension cord to it and bring his pig blanket out there. Of course it would have to be done so...

    Okay to come out now?

He has a walk-in shed with an inverted wooden box he burrows under, but it is not heated.

    Okay to come out now?

Booker seems to really want to come out of his winter digs in my tack room and get out into his separate pasture area, which is a ways away from the barn. We are in the SF East Bay. The weather this week is in the 80's daytime and 50s overnight. Do you think it's okay to bring him out now...

    Sulcata's Digs

I'm afraid he can't go out in winter, and the temp is definitely below 80. I purchased a 10.0 UVB bulb a while back. Sounds like I'd best figure out how to set it up! I better read up on the differences between bulbs and how to mount them too.

    Sulcata's Digs

Thank you both for your responses. I should have mentioned that Booker has a pig blanket for heat. I've thought that heat from below was best because he can get on and off the pig blanket at will. With just window light over the cold months and a full browsing yard for the rest of the time...

    Sulcata's Digs

My 20ish year old Sulcata winters in a tack room of my barn in the SF East Bay. He's a healthy guy, and the room has a window for some natural light, but I'm wondering if I should be setting up some specialized light bulb? If so, what do you recommend? Also, I want to build a drainable...

    Foxtails hazardous?

Tom, This is such great news! By clearing so many of the weeds in the past I may have been removing some of Booker’s favorite treats! Thank you, Sue

    Foxtails hazardous?

That’s comforting and can save me a ton of yard work! Thanks, because I’d hate for his throat to get scratched up with foxtails. I know what trouble they are for dogs in nostrils, ears & paws.

    Foxtails hazardous?

It's finally hot enough here in northern CA to bring Booker out of his winter digs. Usually I cut back most of the weeds in his outdoor enclosure, but I'm thinking he might prefer to eat his way through. Will foxtails hurt him?
