    Constantly trying to escape?

I have a 2 and a half year old male Hermanns and he is constantly pacing the edges of his enclosure and literally trying to climb up the walls, weather he's indoors or out. He has plenty of stimulation in his enclosure, with lots of different textures and things for him to explore. His enclosure...

    Tort transportation

I don't have any advice as far as transportation goes, I just wanted to say that I hope the move goes well and you like Wales when you get here! I live just down the road from Cardiff, in Newport :) I'm currently looking for a local vet to take my torts to, if I find a good one, I'll let you know!

Size/age of torts in reptile shop

I was at a garden centre today and they had a reptile section with Hermanns tortoises avaliable. The guy there (who seemed to know what he was talking about) said they were 4 years old - CB '06 - but they were the same size as my 2 year old (around 4 inches long) and way smaller than my 3 year...

    Want to ID my tortoise

Definately a tortoise! Turtles can't swallow unless they're under water, so i'm guessing it wouldn't have lasted those 17 years! :P Not sure what type it is though... How have you been keeping it? It looks real healthy so I think you can narrow the species down by that, seeing as how different...

    musk turtles

Ramshorn snails are what I have, they'll be fine :D I caught one sitting on my musk's head earlier!

    musk turtles

I second the Hikari comment. My musk is around 4 months old and gets a few sinking Hikari pellets each day. I have a few different kinds mixed up in a tub so he (or she) gets a variety of foods. My other turtle is a year old Mississippi Map who gets fed enough to fill his head, every other day...

    Prolapse?

I was hoping that would be the case! Since it wasn't out in full I couldn't tell if it was that or a prolapse. Thanks for putting my mind at rest! :)

    Prolapse?

My male Hermann's, Mexico, is around 20 months old now and the last 2 times I've bathed him he had what looked like a very small prolapse after he pooped. It almost looked like his tail was curled under his tummy, only dark pink in colour. It seemed to have a 'tip' on it and was a bit pointed. I...

    The DBT group..........

I love Diamond Backs. My boyfriend and I have a Musk and a Mississippi Map but can't find anywhere to get DBT's from that don't cost a small fortune! They're beautiful, the last photo is so cute!

    Took the kids outside...

I tried Bryanne/Brianna instead of Brian, but old habits die hard. I guess she'll forever be known as Brian! Thank you for the suggestions though!

Tort burying itself in substrate under the basking lamp?

The rest of his enclosure never gets below 20 degrees, that has never changed. The only thing that has changed recently is that I have moved the position of the slate that I feed him on. Various care sheets say that a basking temp should be up to 95 degrees f, which is 35 degrees C. What...

Tort burying itself in substrate under the basking lamp?

As the title suggests, my 18 month old Hermanns has recently started to completely bury himself under his substrate (aspen), directly under his MVB. He's burying himself to the point of me thinking I'd lost him! Can't see him at all under the aspen! Do you think there's a reason for this, or is...
