New caregiver to Desert Tortoise need advice.

You mentioned you have a mulberry tree. The mulberry leaves are great for your tort. Mine prefers the newer growth leaves better. That’s something else you have already for him!

    Help for this sad guy

Thank you cmac3. I will share that information most definitely, as well as keep it for my own knowledge expansion. This forum's members are always so helpful to the humans and mindful of the tortoises. :)

    Help for this sad guy

I am not familiar with how Sulcatas look but thought that might be the fact. I do know someone who is wanting to provide a home for one. I am glad to know that he doesn't need to be hibernated. I also did not know that pyramiding was only cosmetic, lack of knowledge there. Thank you to all of...

    Help for this sad guy

Hi everyone, I need your thoughts and wisdom on this tortoise that I have recently been approached regarding homing. A friend sent me the picture and no other information of age, location, sex, etc. Apparently a client of my friend wants to rehome him (?). I am quite concerned about his shell...

Occasional agressive behavior in two (almost) yearlings

Thank you. I appreciate your words of encouragement and they convey my own intentions.

Occasional agressive behavior in two (almost) yearlings

Thank you. I figured since I was splitting them up, I would go to the orchid bark with the change out. I wasn't sure if I was seeing something wrong or not. I do still soak them every other day or so and I do have sphagnum moss underneath that I ad moisture to. So you confirm that a change is...

Occasional agressive behavior in two (almost) yearlings

Thank you for your information and threads. Its clear I have been fortunate no one is hurt. I always intended them to be separated down the line. I did not get them to be buddies. I thought I had time since they were young. I tried to find threads like these but didn't find them in my searches...

Occasional agressive behavior in two (almost) yearlings

I have two CDTs that are approaching a year old that I have had since last September. They are occasionally nipping at each others legs or shell when stomping around their tort table. They also occasionally exhibited this behavior when I first got them (particularly the younger one). I thought...

Brand new to the forum and tortoises

Welcome to the forum! I am somewhat of a newbie but I do think the choice of starting with a hatchling or young adult is definitely a personal choice but one not to be made lightly as I discovered. As someone mentioned, the hatchlings are much more care. Originally, I had intended to start with...

my tortoise wont drink ANY water

Nicole, I don't have a russian; however, I hadn't seen one of my CDT yearlings drink ever in his soaks or water dish for almost 2 weeks. Being a newbie, I was watching them every minute and really stressing because it was getting warm here. I was with the understanding that my little one was...

    Too Much Cuttlebone?

Michael S, I am coming in late on this but just want to thank you for your growth chart. I have wondered if my two (almost yearlings) were on track for size and weight. It seems they are growing so fast right now and such voracious appetites! I can see that mine are right in there where yours...

    Introduction

Hi, my name is Kathleen. I am new as a member but have been following the forum since September of 2014 when I acquired two hatchling CDTs. The forum provided me with valuable information to provide the little ones with a good start. They are now approximately nine and 11 months old and doing...
