Dianne iin South Florida

We have a small farm in So Florida 6 miles to the ocean due east. We have 2 horses, 6 ducks, 11 chickens 1 cat and 2 dogs. It's usually pretty humid here all summer but who knows the weather has taken a real turn in the last 10 years.
My baby African Sacata showed up on top of a double row on landscape cement blocks. We know she is a climber but it was virtually impossible to climb straight up. How she got there and we saw her is somewhat of a miracle. Or maybe a bird dropped her there? We know 3 Seca's that escaped from a man renting a house up the road. We know is the whereabouts of at least 2 of them one male and one female because we rescued them, us and a friend on the next street. Ours was a male his a female so we decided to try to breed them after having them a year, and it went pretty well all weekend. We do not really understand why the new owner of the female told us there were never babies? Our male, RoadRunner, did his breeding job all weekend, He weighed about 75 pounds.
Not knowing much about the care of this prehistoric animal, we let him walk along the perimeter or our acre and a half of the fenced area and he always stuct to the parimiter. As dust came he learned to head back to the horse stall we prepared for the tortoise, he had to cross the property to get there. He would always put himself to sleep. He would come to the house in the afternoon to have his fresh strawberry snack or a fresh hibiscus flower or some treat, after climbing up the stairs he would clop himself back down. One day we were pulling the horse trailer out of the driveway and turn it around and we had to leave the gate open for about 15-20 minutes. In a few hours I asked where's RoadRunner? We looked for weeks, months and to this day neighbors will tell me they saw him walking around but they never tell me when he is there so I can go and get him the tell me "by the way we saw your big tortoise the other day. We lost him for two years now. I should also mention we live next to a state park at least 5K acres near our house he may be in there.

We are starting over now with our miracle baby. I like to think she's his daughter, my granddaughter named her Shelby which I think she knows now. Very slow but smart.
