baby sulcata has a huge space to grow, but he needs a house!

In my opinion, I would rather sacrifice a little space to make a smaller, but more controlled environment. He can still have space, but I would rather be able to completely control the temp and humidity at all times...especially for a baby, I don't think it's possible to control the temp and...

    think i fixed the humidity?

I still say fully covered. I don't think your going to be able to get enough humidity to build up if it's not fully enclosed.

    humidity issues still

yea it's harder to hold humidity in any tort table type enclosure. I know a lot of people on here recommend them but i'm just not a fan, especially for species like a redfoot. They require VERY HIGH humidity, around 80-90% when they are young. Theres just no way your going to get enough humidity...

    humidity issues still

I haven't read your other threads so I'm not quite up to speed. You have a redfoot right? They require a lot of humidity. It's going to be tough to get an acceptable humidity level on a wooden tort table. I would recommend fully covered the enclosure, probably with a piece of plywood. I use just...

    Savannah Monitor

Hello, I'm having trouble finding a good monitor forum so i figured a few people on here must keep some. i recently got a Savannah monitor. He's really awesome! About a foot long and eating pretty good. He's eating crickets right now and about 14" long. I'm just wondering if it's time to start...

    Forest Hingeback Questions!

    Forest Hingeback Questions!

ok, and i'm assuming they don't require a basking spot or UVB if they don't need much lighting, So what should they're diet consist of outside of meat? It's gonna be made up of mostly leafy greens correct? Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure i get the set-up right quickly so I...

    Forest Hingeback Questions!

yea i've got a dim light and a heat emitter in my redfoot's cage, lighting is pretty low, so he cruises around a lot. Ok so i'm going to need heat to escape more, you said more carnivorous, does that mean some cat food occasionally would be ok?

    Forest Hingeback Questions!

I just got a Forest Hingeback for my birthday! Courtesy of my girlfriend :) I just had some questions as far as the set-up. I understand they are from tropical African forests. So i'm assuming that means high humidity and temp. He/she (I'll post pictures so you can help me sex) is currently in a...

VERY worried about my NEW Russian Tortosie

words of wisdom. I did the same thing when I got my second Russian. she didn't even come out of her shell for a full 3 days. And I constantly picked her up and tried to get her to eat. I realize now that she probably would have settled a lot quicker and smoother had I not messed with her so...

    Temperature problem In NEW HOME

85 is fine. The only thing that needs to be hotter is the basking spot. I've noticed my tort is most active when the basking spot is around 95-100 degrees. Turn the lights off for sure. A temp drop at night helps with digestion and is what it would naturally experience in the wild. I'm not sure...
