Yes there 3 weeks tomorrow! Is this a correct way of candling the eggs? If so, I'll try the others to see if we can see anything in them!

Our Russian eggs were hatched 3 weeks ago and after reading about candling, we decided to give it a go! I'm not sure we did it right and only used the torch on an iPhone but don't suppose a trained eye can see anything in the egg? We only tried it on 1 as didn't think we had done it right...

@IBeenEasy noooo of course not! Its tortoise pellets but the cat loves them!

Yes this is definitely true as before we got her (just before Christmas), she was kept in a small tortoise table with only 1 UV strip bulb. She now lives out in the garden and is soaking up the sun all day or sleeping in their house which we have put a strong UV bulb in. She's eating a varied...

I may have been slightly naïve with her measurements as just trying to memorise as not at home at the moment. She's certainly not any bigger then 8 inches though! We have another 3 weeks until the eggs are due - I'm quite excited to see what their shells are like!

Yes she's very unique looking! She's just laid some eggs with our Russian male so hopefully if she is slightly different, the eggs hatch ok!

Hopefully someone can help me identify the species of my 7 year old Shelby! She was sold to us with a male Russian tort but she is unlike nah other tort I have seen as she has a solid green shell! Someone suggested she could be a mixed species but would like some other opinions? Thanks in...

Thanks for all your replies! It would be good to find out what species Shelby is - her previous owner lost her certificates so we don't even have those to look at :( I will definitely give their beaks a trim ASAP!

Thanks for the reply! My other half and I have been looking at breeds tonight trying to figure out which breed Shelby is. I haven't seen one similar to her before as her shell is a solid green colour... What do you think? The marginated are kept in a separate enclosure in the garden away...
