Rehoming beautiful Western Hermann - Brighton UK

Im so sad to be rehoming my beautiful Western Hermann tortoise Greta. She’s the absolute loveliest pet and I adore her, but I worry I can’t give her the space she needs. She is 2 years old andp loves to roam, climb, snooze and eat. She’s low maintenance but is much more active when there’s...

Baby Hermann - is she sick?

I'm a little worried about my 6 month old Western Hermann but I cannot tell if I'm being over paranoid! A couple of weeks ago she had a hair-like peice of coco substrate lodged in her tiny nostril that was making her sneezy, I managed to get it out with tweezers and I'm quite sure she was okay...

    Does this look concerning?

So glad she/he is doing better!! I had no idea an overgrown beak was a possibility either, so thanks so much for posting about this - always good to be aware of what could go wrong! Hopefully now they had a trim they can get back to being a happy tort! ?

Is there a kind of 'cheat sheet' people use for what to feed and what not to feed? I found this one but couldn't tell of it's accurate: https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/plant-database/viewplants/a-z/?l=al#.YAvaC2nLdCU

No don't worry, he was very clear that although referred to as a dwarf tortoise, it's not actually a dwarf. Thanks so much for checking though - I imagine some sellers can be a bit sneeky with it!

My new baby Dwarf Hermann - Greta

I think it's another term for a Western Hermann (I'm a complete novice though and am just going off what the tortoise shop guy told me) but i don't think it's actually a dwarf, but just referred to as that as the Western Hermann's are a but smaller than the Eastern. Again not completely...

My new baby Dwarf Hermann - Greta

This is so incredibly helpful! Thanks so much!! Next time I will be sure to use a naturally less dry substrate, should I mist the coco coir bark in the mean time? So far I have been feeding her curly kale, cucumber, courgette, coriander and lettuce - unfortunately I don't currently grow my own...
