Thank you all for the input! I should have considered all of his senses..

Will do; it's been fascinating to see how quickly and strongly he responded to it. I did some dog obedience training in 4-H back in the day, and during one summer program, we were given a chicken to train for a few...
Hello all,
So, I was curious about this. I have a 10 month old cherry head so is very friendly (not shy at all, follows my hands, comes out of his hide nearly every time I am lingering near his enclosure for more than a moment.) I have also been target training him, to touch a red ball on a...
I should also add: the first night I had the enclosure put together, the humidity was only in the low 60s, so twice I misted the surface of the substrate so as to increase the humidity before adding my tort.

I've been trying and failing to get a picture of this. He yawns and I go "Awwww" and miss the photo op. It's completely adorable.
Hello!
I was curious to see if anyone on here knows of any garter snake breeders in the states. Garters were the first reptiles I kept and I learned alot from keeping them. I found them to be active, responsive and rewarding little creatures to keep. I've wanted to someday keep California red...
Hello!
I have had my hatchling cherry head, Todd, for almost a week. He seems perfectly healthy, active and doing everything he should be. Today when I soaked him, I noticed these tiny white circles on his plastron. It doesnt look like shell rot, and I found an old thread addressing mystery...
