Hi,
The biggest difference I see, is in outdoor hibernation. The Marginatas don't dig very deep, & shouldn't be hibernated outdoors in cold climates, "my opinion"
For good care info I like www.russiantortoise.org
It would be good if you covered the lower portion of that vivarium so the...
All the Mediterranean tortoises have the same dietary needs.
I like the info @ www.russiantortoise.org. Joe has put over 20 years of research into their dietary needs. Please read the info @ his website.
Hi,
I'm here in Concord, our weather sounds a little colder than yours. We often get ice during the night, & an occasional snow.
We keep about a foot of hay in the hide box for insulation, & haven't had any issues with hibernation.

Hi Rascal,
We live in Concord, & raise Marginatas. You're welcome to check things out some time if you like. Care of the Mediterranean tortoises are all pritty much the same. I like the care information at www.russiantortoise.org & have followed his guidelines over 15 years.

Here's a link to the bulb I like using...

By the photo you're enclosure doesn't look very long. If it isn't long enough you won't have a cool end, there would be a hot spot, & a warm end.
