    Grass seeds

I am in Ohio, planning to order this. Do you think they'd be ok for Sulcata?

    Food and water dishes

The dishes were getting broken inside the indoor pin, the shed, when he'd catch them with the edge of his shell while cruising parimeter. We'd feed him and leave the dish in the pin. The dish would get pinched betwn him and the wall and then he'd step on them. Lots of good ideas for the food...

    Food and water dishes

Hadn't thought of a cake pan. It's nice that its rectangular. But he did bend and break a round metal pan used to feed chickens.

    Food and water dishes

Last year we switched to using a rubber feed bowl for outside water dish. Our Sulcata is around 60lbs and has destroyed all terracotta, plastic and metal dishes by just cruising around. Nothing is the right size. Need a more flat dish for food that he can't break. Any suggestions of where to...

    Planting forage grasses & weeds

The other project for us before it gets cold here in Ohio is to plant some fast growing grasses/weeds for grazing. Our ground typically stays moist most of the year since we live in a valley. Best places to order grass/weeds online that will grow in where we live?

    Sulcata Tortoise indoor pin floor

Thank you. Will replace the torn insulation & wood, and put stall mat down, then some dirt.

    Sulcata Tortoise indoor pin floor

Sound like a stall mat could work for sure. Thanks for your input. We have his pen built inside of our shed. So there's the shed floor, then some 2x4's. We had insulation in between those, then wood, then dirt. He dug thru. Wonder if I need insulation at all if I put new wood, then stall mat...

    Sulcata Tortoise indoor pin floor

My Sulcata is 16 yo, around 60 lbs. We are in Ohio & his indoor pin is within our shed. The current pin has a combination of OSB, plywood, insulation, & floor has dirt on top. There's also a separate protected box inside with sheet metal sides where we have the heater. This year he has started...

How much and what types of food do I need to feed a 60lb Sulcata tortoise each day?

Thank you everyone. I do have a rose of Sharon next to the pin but I only give him a few blooms and numerous leaves every other day. We do get hay bails in winter since too cold to let him graze. Is there a reputable place to order plants/grass seeds to grow some food for him? I want to put some...

How much and what types of food do I need to feed a 60lb Sulcata tortoise each day?

It's been a few years since I've been on the forum. We live in Ohio and 8 years ago we adopted a 8yo Male sulcata. Now that's he's aIround 61 lbs. I often wonder if I'm feeding him enough and all the variety he should have. A couple times a week he gets Mazuri. He gets grasses, plantain, and...

    Small cracks in Sulcata shell

Thank you so much for your information on this. It may be a combo of dryness and scratches. I have been removing rocks from the enclosure that he may injure his shell on but will recheck his hide box for rough edges. I have noticed it being less humid in there the last few months, despite...
