Wow, their markings are stunning - especially the first one! Congratulations!
We've had our male Leopard for two summers now; this year he finally began mating.
I read so many different accounts of Leopard mating/laying/hatching times - - this is why I am loving this Forum!
Your Member info does not let us know where you live. more details please;) Northern Cal, or. So. Cal Inland for example, instead of simply 'California.'
I totally agree with the above comments that your torts' size is OK to go outdoors - ours went outside full time at around 7-8lbs - too heavy...
I hesitated in asking about breeders until I'd digested more information...thank you for the referrals.
I am VERY happy to see those scute lines with near symmetrical markings plus that great 3D 'box' and star look is not a super super rarity.
Well, we have breeding Sulcata and Leopard pairs...
Sorry about the poor phrasing, I'm seeking info about them, breeders etc.. That pic makes me smile every time I see it.
I'll learn about them, and thanks for taking the time to contact me. (My ex was a dog trainer 30 years ago; we had a Bea Lydecker German Shepard)
thanks again
>>As soon as their little bellies are closed up and they are eating OK.<<
Yep. We just sold 36 baby Sulcatas (from three in-ground clutches) to a Shop last weekend. They were a mix of 30, 23 and 17 days out of the ground. For what it's worth his criteria for accepting them were their 'belly...
Ceramic heating elements are tough and longlasting, I like them.
I didn't have access to a thermostat on one occasion, so I just kept adjusting the distance from the element to the tort until my temp was good. On another, I had the timer going off/on a lot (bought extra dohickys for the timer)...
Hi, Tom! I was viewing a post about Leopard's swimming and caught your profile pic -- I'm not sure if that INCREDIBLE shell pattern is real, photoshop, decals stuck on or what, but those stars, and the 3D boxes -- mind blown! So who's burrow do I have to clean to get in on that? thanks, brad...
Those pics are a bit old, and I've since "hardfaced" Luna's shell with Quikrete crack repair. Here's a link to my post explaining it:

Here's a few to get things started:
The first pic is Luna, years ago - we left the back door open....
Second is Oscar after crashing the laundry room!
Third is Willie (left) and Oscar mugging for the camera
Last is a photo of Oscar visiting with his little Leopard friend Lazzie (note the...
UPDATE: My wife left the house at 3:30 for an appointment, and when we returned at 5:30 this afternoon Oscar had installed himself by the back door looking super alert, and wanting a handout. All last week he ignored the carrots, etc. we'd placed by him, but now he started eating the greens we...
Tom,
What you're saying makes sense for maintaining a tropical animal in a tropical environment.
I feel their burrows have a saving grace in that they lie directly under a 15'x25' concrete slab (old paddle-tennis court). It won't raise the temp to 80, but it's better than your average hole in...
@Yvonnne: Thank you for clarifying about your Russians and the summer heat.
@Tom: I cannot thank you enough for (again) taking the time to compose a thoughtful and intelligent post:) and that's some deeluxe digs you built - you should be proud of that!
OK, so right now Oscar is maintaining...
Yvonne,
Can you clarify - does that mean your Russians don't come out at all during the hot months, or that they only come out in the cooler hours of the day?
