    Convincing parents

My parents had initially said no. I already had a snake and two dogs. I constantly would talk about my knowledge though. For example, at dinner my mom would say "Pass me the salad" I would respond with "Did you know tortoises love eating salad greens?" Everything I said revolved around...

    Strawberries?

I have read on some sites that I shouldn't feed my tortoise strawberries and on others that I can. What do you guys think?

    Too much food?

I have a Greek tortoise. I used to have turtles and they said they never know when to stop eating and they can overeat. He's a grazer and eats a lot. He always looks hungry and I feel guilty. Could he over eat and get sick? I don't want him to be sick because I fed him too much

    Pet stores

I got my Greek from there. He is about 5 years old but I've had him for a few months. I had a good experience. If you know what to look for when buying one you may be able to get a good one. Know that they should be semi active, no runny nose or watery eyes, not really afraid of people etc. of...

    Confused...

I know Greeks and Russians are pretty similar. I have a Greek. I have whats called Eco-Earth, you can buy it at Petco, in his cage as well as calcium sand. The calcium sand is good in case he eats it it won't hurt him it'll actually help him! Also, if you don't want to use a rock as a hide out I...

    Soaking?

He's ways in his water. Whenever I'm doing homework or on the computer he's soaking himself. Id say he's in it for at least 10 minutes a day. AT LEAST. Haha, it's like his happy place or whatnot

    Enclosure size?

My dad and I are building my Greek tortoise a cage. It will be about 16 inches by 64 inches. It's the size of my one shelf in my room. Is that a good size? He will only be there about 3 years until I go to college in which I will have to get an off campus apartment for him and I. When I get that...

    Soaking?

I meant to put this in my last thread but forgot. My Greek tortoise is a few years old. I know you have to soak them but if he has a larger water bowl in his cage in which he soaks himself in, do I need to soak him still? He HATES when I soak him but doesn't mind soaking himself. Yeah, he's...

    De-worming?

I have a Greek tortoise I have named Geno. He was recently a little ill, runny nose and watery eyes, and I took him to the vet to get him checked out. He's fine just needed eye drops and nose drops. My question though is the vet said he should be de-wormed 2 times a year. I'm fifteen years old...
