Both of my Male DT came out yesterday

One of mine (Cruiser) has awoke and is coming out for a few hours each day for about 2 weeks now. The other (Winston) is still in deep sleep. Cruiser always comes out before the Winston but usually not tell late March yearly April.

I agree it is a desert tortoise and should be returned.

Here is some comparison photos of the shell after a few years of healing. A lot of the hard white stuff has falling off.

I agree I would not disrupt his spot he like to go to. I would but the drinking hole in a shady area if you have it.

No, the white stuff on his shell is his shell healing from a dog mauling. All the areas on his shell that was chewed on has turned white and then will eventually fall off. Here is a link to my post about that...

Yes it is a great spot for him to cool down. Since I installed it, I find him like this almost everyday around 2:00pm when I get home from work.

For the small pond I just swipe it out every day or so and put clean water in like you would do for a dog. I have plants planted around the small pond and it is under a tree, so when I sweep the water out it helps water those plants. As for the large pond I sweep it out every few day or when...

Thank you, it is a work i progress. There is grass that just grows, I planted a spineless cactus and a whole lot of tortoise seed mix (he eats it before it gets large). There is also a very large hibiscus tree that hangs over the wall from a neighbors house that drops a lot of flowers treats for...

I have made two in ground drinking/soaking holes made of concrete one for my Desert tortoise and a larger one for my Sulcata. I do same thing and swipe it out every few days to give it clean water. Here are some pictures.

I capped them just in case he can pull himself up and so he doesn't think he can climb out there. .All the boards are 12" tall so he will be good and safe in there. He has been in the 4'x4' area for the last 3 years and never escaped, so he should be good.
