Wishful thinking, or does shell / pyramiding look better?

I’ve only had her 1 month - she’s had a whole world upside down change though! She was in a 100 gallon aquarium before; now she lives outside and only comes in at nighttime (til she’s a little bigger.) Also went from a completely dry environment / substrate to getting soaked a few times a week...

Testudo Mix from Tortoise Supply grows great in tortoise table!

This is 1 weeks after planting. Now if only he’ll eat it instead of stomping all over it. [emoji23]

    Help growing tortoise supply mix

Soooo... it only took 2 days and they’re sprouting right in the enclosure. [emoji23] Marvin stomps around on them but they’re only joking poking out of the soil so he hasn’t tried to eat them. I’ll also be planting aside elsewhere to maintain a good supply, but I was pleased to add some green...

Just picked up the pyramiding Sulcata. Advice?

Also - I measured today he’s 8”. Can he be sexed yet? I think he may be a she!! The anal botch is a little more v or u shaped than broad, and the gulag protection looks smaller than I’d think for a male. Or is it just too early to tell??

Just picked up the pyramiding Sulcata. Advice?

Thank you for easing my concerns! Worried about the poor guy. Glad he doesn’t look bad. He’s going to be happy here! I’m surprised he’s much bigger than they told me, but that’s great because he can stay outside in the daytime for now! (Slowly increasing hours until he’s used to it of course...

Just picked up the pyramiding Sulcata. Advice?

Thanks. Yes I had a thread over a week ago when I found out I was getting him. They had him in a 100 gallon aquarium tank with lighting. No enclosed hide, no water dish. WAY dry. He was fed ONLY kale and strawberries daily. :(

brown spots on baby sulcatas neck ?

That sulcata looks just MONTHS old. How long have you had the tort? Definitely doesn’t look years old.

    Help growing tortoise supply mix

Well, I can update you soon!! I just planted some last night right in my Russian’s table; I’ve had success growing grass in there before. I buried it right in the substrate, which is just pure Scott’s brand topsoil. It has no fertilizer and it’s great. It’s near-ish the UVA/heat. If I have...

Just picked up the pyramiding Sulcata. Advice?

OK - so here he is. He’s bigger than the 5-6” they told me he was. When we get home I’ll measure. I have some concerns. Anyone think these are early signs of MBD?? Is this mainly just the dehydration, or lack of calcium? Or BOTH? 1. The pyramiding is worse than initial pictures show I think...

Adopting 2 year old Sulcata - pyramiding?

Okay that seems much more around what I was thinking this should cost. Thanks-very helpful. Maybe in the fall I’ll look into pricing that out. He’s too little to be outside in the winter right now I think anyway even WITH a heated shed... right?

Adopting 2 year old Sulcata - pyramiding?

Next winter I can definitely set up a year round outdoor setup for him without a problem - he’s too small to be outside this winter anyway he’s only 5”. Electricity is the problem for me - that’s what I meant by affording $1,000 just in electricity. I’ve already priced out options for what I’m...

    Update and new outdoor habitat!

I don’t have much experience at all, but I plan on making my own hide out of a light colored tote. Turn it upside-down, and cut a large hole in the side so he can go in!
