    There weren't holes on the other side of the shell, but I'm not sure how deep the holes were. It was definitely odd, and so sad, whatever happened

    Missouri, so it could definitely have been a coyote. Surprising there was no other damage to the shell though if it was an animal, it's just my best guess

    Thank you for the correction! This is very true. The Galapagos and Aldabra are in the same enclosure and I often just refer to them as the former because people tend to recognize the name more often and see them as "close enough."

    That's awesome! Just make sure you'll always have a space for him when you move out on your own or to a college dorm where they may not allow Squirt.

    The Galapagos tortoises I care for at the St. Louis Zoo! The sweetest and most personable torts I've ever come across. (Pebbles is the best)

    I don't think so, they had less colors and the shell was much more round. I can't quite seem to place what kind they were.

    If a parent is getting a tort for a child or preteen, then they have to make the commitment themselves as well.
