I agree with you , most people buy on a whim, and dont take into consideration that these are living creatures who will be with you a long long time . even parrots are like this... and too many ppl dont think before they buy :(
so last night getting ready for bed, my youngest says "Mom what are you doing?" I tell her I am looking online for a special light for Romeo (our Russian tort) " what does all those letters mean MVB/uva/uvb ?" she checks out the site I am on and said " why does he need that he already has HBO"...
my child tells me she is taking Romeo with her too, I tell her maybe not :P I am getting way to attached (LOL) I figure I am pretty lucky as long as they ask for cute torts, and no spiders or snakes... ack :P I am so afraid of snakes,
I see many here have them...
I was that Naive Mom who wanted to buy a tort for my kids, I am still learning and had a few ppl sort of harsh with their words, but good intentions , tell me everything I am doing wrong.. BUT I also had some really great ppl here take the time to help me, they have so much patients with someone...
I would love to sell our house and live somewhere warm.. I could def give up the snow and if I missed it I would take a mini vacation , then go back to the nice warm weather... I wish I lived in some of the locations ya'll live in that I could keep torts outside all year round :) let dreamers...
my two daughters wanted a tortoise and I caved :P really I have always secretly loved turtles so it wasn't that hard to buy one. HA! I know nothing about care and these lovely people here are so patient with me and answer my questions.... I think sulcatta torts are my favorites.. have you...
sorry meant to type 30L...last post Opps :P anyways......(still know I need something bigger, looking for something much wider)
last week I have been shopping for enclosures , I found a few I am interested in and want to know what ya'll think..
found a great deal (clearance) for a tortoise...
