Thanks for the tips, right now I am picking weeds from all over the property, but I need to prep for when those are not in harvest mode. I have opuntia, not the spineless, so I'll look for some. Should be pretty easy to find I am guessing.
At some point I would like our CDT to remain outside throughout the night. I am going to monitor temps in the burrow for a few weeks to see how low it gets. I am curious as to how low a temp is considered acceptable in order for him to remain in it over night?

We recently adopted a CDT, age = at least 50 years old. He eats dry grass: Timothy, Oat, Bermuda, as well as green Bermuda, and grazes in the yard for other weeds. He eats SO much that I have resorted to harvesting weeds at places where I know no chemical are used. I did purchase weed seed...

No, I have no chemicals...He lived in a tortoise table inside the house with all the proper habitat items...water, organic food, calcium vitamin d, just everything was fine for 3 years...he was active this morning...fat and healthy...I have no idea what went wrong...maybe he climbed on his hide...
I rescued Flip 3 years ago a an injured barely yearling and nursed him to great health....all was well, good appetite, poops activitiy...I cam home from work today to find him flaccid, apparently not breathing and eyelids at half mast...he doesnt hibernate and I keep him with all the appropriate...
It could be that the room has been hotter...he seems just fine and bright with excellent appetite, he is probably 1.5 years, and has really grown great...I'll keep a watchful eye...tx

I ended up taking Flip to the vet, it was expensive, but worth it. He had xray which revealed no blockages, he had blood work which revealed a slight increase in basophils, and borderline anemia. For treatment he got a b complex injection, a gavage of panacur & flagyl...I have to keep his...
