I'm a college student in Western North Carolina. I live in a studio apartment, just me and my Russian Tortoise, Atlas. She's about ten years old and seems to be doing well. We travel about six to ten times a year to Southwest Virginia, about two hours away.
Atlas seems to be a healthy, happy tort. I bathe her and take her outside as often as I can. My college has a big garden where I take my baby girl to "run around." She has a variety of foods available to her, and soon I'll be planting a few small plants in her cage.
My friends told me to write a book, "Just a Girl and her Tort," because all I do is talk about my little dinosaur. She's a funny little tort. She recognizes me, rides around inside my jacket, and my professors have welcomed her into class on multiple occasions. She's actually fairly social and likes head scratches.
