Hey there I was wondering if you could help me. I just got my first Redfoot at a reptile show 2 months ago and the guy who sold him to me had no info on him besides he's "Imported". I'm interested in knowing a little more about him from some experienced keepers. I don't know how to send pics in message so here is a link to my post. Thank you!

Hello! I was told you knew about Brown's a little more than @wellington and so here I am any good info? For housing I have a big insulated heated shed for when grown and cold winter. I was going to get a baby though and I still need to get something for house suggestions on food for young Brown or inside house habitat or where I should get one?

Hello, my family is wanting to get a baby tortoise this Spring, our first one and I want to get it right. I'm in the Dallas area too and curious about region specific advice. He'd most likely be in a backyard enclosure. Are there any good resources for what's best around here? Which species thrives the best, what specific stuff enclosures need, what food grows the best, etc. Thank you so much!
      1. tortadise
        tortadise
Hello turtwig. Well depends on the size of backyard and also the space you have indoors for winter time. A smaller species is about the best route to go. Hermanns, Russians, Greek, or even a redfoot is a great starter tortoise. They are all packed with personality and are quite easy to mAintain. Are
You wanting to get a baby or start with a larger one?

Also since the food (greens) in her tank had spoiled there were fruit flies in the tank There were larva on the bottom of her shell moved the tank in our room and it's been cleaned daily also soaking her everyday Just scared if we're doing all we can

Hello! I'm looking far and wide for the elusive Chaco Tortoise. My husband is an avid tortoise owner and had a female Chaco in 1980-2000. He's been unable to find another and we've been looking for several years now. I've seen a few posts in which you mention them. Do you have any leads on Chaco ownership in this day and age?!
      1. tortadise
        tortadise
Chacos are very difficult to find. Most of the keepers that have them rarely sell any offspring or adults. Occasionally you will see one on the classifieds. PM me and I can put you in touch with a breeder for an offspring.

      Hey tortadise,

I've been cruising this site for a while, and my wife and I are still in search of an Egyptian. I know they are hard to come by, and I am having a hard time finding folks that breed them. I'm hoping you can help point me in the right direction in finding a breeder.

      Thank you. Happy 4th!

He shouldn't. I'd say the worms and beetles have decomposed quite well by now.

Hi. I live in the UK. My redfoots are indoors in a viv. What do you recommend for substrate? I have had them on grass pellets but I am being told that is wrong? Also, do you know what the humidity should be? Any advice is greatly received. Thanks Donna
      1. tortadise
        tortadise
Hi Donna. The best substrate for Redfoots is soil mixed with some mulch.

I have a combined uva and uvb bulb for my tortoise table. Should i turn it off at night and just have it on in the day?
      1. tortadise
        tortadise
Yes. Leave it on during the day. Cycle of 12-13 hours on and 11-12 hours off. What kind of bulb is it? A mercury vapor?

Hi my greek tortoise who is almost a year old (will be one year old in December) has not been pooping lately. He continues to eat regularly and bathe regularly (30 minutes every other day in luke warm water) he tries very hard to get his stool out but always fails. He used to be very active and such but lately he has almost seemed weak. Should I take him to the vet? Please help. I'm very concerned for him. Thank you!
      1. tortadise
        tortadise
Interesting. Well a few questions. What are you feeding the tortoise? Also how do you have him set up? What our it's temps(day, night, cool and warm side), substrate. UVB lighting? How long have you had him and when did this start?
