Yes, I have an enclosure with the right temps. And I'm sorry but I beg to differ about torts not being cuddlers. Maybe not all of them but mine is. Over the summer, when temps were in the upper 90s, I would lay outside near him and eventually he would seek me out and lay next to me.
Hi all! We live in Missouri and today I took him outside for some play time. As it got to around 5 om, the temps were in the mid 70s with a chilly breeze. I noticed that he was slowing down and getting sleepy. Sometimes he does that because he's full and tired but he's been on and off napping...
Thanks for the info! I do have a 5 yr old german shepherd that will also use the yard. Three bricks high won't deter the dog. Any suggestions for making the walls higher to prevent the dog getting in? Like a taller fence or?

I have a male Sulcata who is 11 years old and maybe a foot long (yes I know he's small for his age, he had a poor diet). We live in the Midwest and are wanting to build an outdoor enclosure so that he can get all the sun he wants this time of year.
I am planning on using cinder blocks...
What about concrete blocks? I know that wood prices are pretty expensive and wood toys so is concrete a good alternative? I also know that they are diggers so my thought was to sink some metal edging plates in the ground. I will definitely start the new diet ?
I've only recently found that too much can be just as bad and definitely plan on cutting way back on the calcium. I will check out the article you shared. I could probably build the heated box. My main question is sizing and materials..
Thanks so much for that info! Now that she's growing more I plan on cutting back on the calcium and the pellets, I was really just trying to help her bulk up because she was a little more than half this size a year ago!
My boyfriend has owned a sulcata for just about 11 years and was not getting the proper diet so she is rather small for her age. I will post a pic showing her size. Since I've been around weve started giving her a better diet consisting of grassland tortoise pellets, wet grass pellets, and power...
