    Map or Cooter ID?

Hello Tortoise Forum (even though I’m in the turtle section) I haven’t been very active in recent years mainly due to college and being very busy. But I still have all my turtles and tortoises. As the subject suggests I need some help identifying this turtle. I found a man who claimed to be...

    Should I release her?

I've fed mine crickets without a problem. I've never heard that crickets are not good to feed box turtles, they catch and eat them in the wild.

Elongated, Redfoots, & Hermans in Texas

Saw this add on CL. Looks like some pretty good tortoises, and the prices seem decent. Pasadena, Texas. No idea if they will ship just getting the ad out for them if anyone's interested. http://houston.craigslist.org/pet/3929857181.html

    Weird chip on RES shell

I agree. I was thinking that she was about to shed her scutes, and may be overdue.

    3-Toe Help

Thank you everyone who responded! I moved him into a large storage container until I can get my outdoor space set up and escape proof. The vitashell has actually done an amazing job at getting his shell to smooth out and look healthier. But it can’t all be due to the vitashell because he’s...

    First Pet

My first pet I really took care of was a little baby red eared slider when I was 6. Still have him too!

    Can you identify?

Not a RES but it looks like a yellow bellied slider, which isn't native but I think they've been introduced there. Someone else that knows more about the northern species will hopefully be able to tell you definitively what it is.

    pond

If I could make a big outdoor pond like id like to, this is what I would have to model it after. Very nice! How many and what kind of turtles do you have in there now?

    Can you identify?

With a toothbrush try and gently scrub and wash off some of the algae, I think it may actually be a red eared slider. It looks like it may have the "ear" but it is very faded. Also where are you located?

    Gestation Period of 3-Toes?

So if I understand you right a female has eggs/follicles inside of her all the time, and those eggs are just unfertile until a male fertilizes them? Then also those now fertile eggs can be laid at any time, depending on the conditions and if everything’s right?

    Gestation Period of 3-Toes?

Awhile back I bought what I thought was a female 3-toed box turtle. Well today I was able to clear up the question on which sex she was because I caught my male and her mating. Now my question would be how long is the gestation period of 3-toes? I know it’s not a sure thing she will produce...

    What are these?

Thank you, I thought they were Texas cooters but the facial pattern threw me off.

    What are these?

Today I went on a canoe and fishing day trip with a friend, of course we caught no fish. Instead I was able to get out in the shallow spots and catch a lot of different turtles. I knew what every species was except for one, I think it’s some sort of map (Texas or Cagle's), but their huge! I...

Does Anyone Have a Female Texas Map Turtle

It’s legal to collect them with a valid Texas hunting license, but yes a shame.
