Thank you for the advice, but I don’t have a fridge that he can hibernate in, nor can I make a heat box because I don’t have any room. He is in a box in coat closet with no A/C and no activity. The box is filled with straw and it has a towel over with a 5 inch opening so he can breath.

So I have a DT and he’s 15-20 years old, male, and In hibernation. What I need to know is when I should take him out of his box because it’s getting hotter. I need answers from people in Lancaster, CA.

So I have a DT and he’s hibernating right now but I need info on how to bathe him (He’s 15-20). So a tortoise owner I know said that if I bathe my tortoise in warm water it could get sick and possibly die. He told me to rinse him lightly with the hose. Now, his torts are around 50-60 years old...
So my tortoise is going into hibernation right now and he’s in a box full of shredded newspaper with a thin blanket over it so he can breath. He’s in a dark closet with no activity. My question is, will he choke on the shredded newspaper?

I have a DT that is 15-20 years old. He is healthy and all but he only drinks when I soak him, but never when I put water in his bowl.
