I have three hatchling radiateds. All of them were gaining weight consistently until now. One of them has suddenly taken a turn. When I got him he was 86g on 8/21/22 on 9/19 he weighed 113g. Still seems fine and eats well but he keeps bouncing between 107 and 110. The others are now about 125g...
Did you ever find an answer? I know it’s safe to feed mex sunflower to livestock. So I let my torts eat it but not sure if it has a good calcium to phosphorus ratio and stuff like that. I am sure it won’t kill them I just don’t know how good it is for them.
I got my first radiated 3 years ago and would love to start building a herd. Idk if Daytona is happening this year but if it is I’ll be there. If anybody knows anyone that has any hatchlings or young ones I’d appreciate the info. Thanks!
So I got a small Leopard tortoise at the Daytona show in August. This was my first leopard tortoise. I would estimate that it was at least 6 months or so. It was not a fresh hatchling. I had an indoor tub and an outdoor pen. I raised it the same as I did the Radiated tort that I have and redfoot...
I'm looking through TSA literature. It doesn't look like they ban turtles/reptiles. The airline may not allow it but he's still small enough to fit in my carry on.
I mentioned tsa because they'd be the first to uncover the fact that I have a tortoise. Once discovered I didn't know what they'd do. Bring in Fish and wildlife or just say "nice turtle". Maybe I should just ship him to myself.
I have a small radiata and live in Tampa. I will soon have to move to CA but have no time to get a permit. I don't want to give him up. What do you think the odds are that the TSA will know what species I have? Or does anyone have any advice?
Saw her eating today! Decided to leave it outside over night and stop bringing it in. I'm going to stop soaking it for a couple days too. Things seem to be improving. Fingers crossed.
I got them from Dan but hatch date was oct of 14. I've never tried to use coco fiber outside. Wouldn't it get washed away? I use it in indoor setups but seems like outdoor pens would require too much.
I know the above sounds like a lot of prodding but the only interaction is taking it from night box to soak for 15 min then to its pen. 12 hours later she's back in the night box. Definitely trying to keep my distance and minimize stress.
