    Red Foots Eye Help

Maggie, you're right. The eye medication is easy. However the baytril, which isgiven orally, is proving quite the challenge.

Just left this vet. He prescribed me baytril (orally) and tobramyacin (into eye). Any tips on coercing tortoise to let me put the tobramyacin on? Thanks again! P.S. Total vet bill = $88.03 :)

Well I talked to my vet. I'm going to get my terramyacin tomorrow given that the vet (another vet) thinks I need it. Yvonne, I originally did haha. You caught me! Thanks for the nice comment on cooper! He's so goofy and spunky! I got that when I had my camera, taking pictures of my snake...

    Red Foots Eye Help

Thanks for the replies guys. Husbandry is different than sulcata...MUCH different. Lower temps, higher humidity, more baths, separate foods, etc. It doesn't look inflamed. I was thinkin maybe a piece of substrate got in there but how would I get it out? There looks like a thin white layer...

    Red Foots Eye Help

Hey guys, I have a baby RF and have had him for about 3-4 months. He's doing great, eating, active, etc. He gets a bath 3x weekly. He eats a main diet of turnip greens (no dandelions yet :( ) with a biweekly piece of squash and a weekly piece of mango or other fruit. He gets calcium and vitamin...

    Schools For Biology???? (Herpetology)

Degrees go: Bachelor's --> Master's --> Ph.D. For vets, you usually need a Bachelor's then Vet School. Vet School lasts for 3 years so you are looking at about 7 - 8 years of school before you can begin your profession. :D

    Schools For Biology???? (Herpetology)

I, too, am graduating soon and, like you, I want a degree in Herpetology. However, I hate to disappointment you but there are no degrees available in "herpetology." BUT, you can get a degree in Zoology. Usually, you can get a focus of herps. I know this because I want to become an Exotic Vet...

    not drinking water and substrate

Ehhh. They are OK for now but when you go to clean the cage and change the substrate, I'd recommend at least TRYING the sand/topsoil mix. I like it because it dries out on top while the bottom retains moisture and thus, semi-similulates their natural environment when they have to dig to find...

    not drinking water and substrate

Doc, my Sulcata, hardly ever drinks. Sulcatas rarely have access to standing water in their native habitat but it is a good idea to keep in their enclosure. As long as your continue to soak him, he should be ok. As for substrate, I use a mixture of 50/50 with Pesticide/Fertilizer-free Topsoil...
